In a previous post/article I talked about how to promote your WordPress blog using plug-ins. In this post/article I want to touch on the subject of promoting by articles. For years now I have heard and read about how this is such a great way to gain inbound links to your website, and how it can work wonders for your page rank. Well, is this really true?
In a sense, yes, but it is also a bit over rated. A well known SEO trick, which actually works, is to attach your website address where ever you can, both online and offline. So naturally it won’t hurt writing articles and then submitting them to different websites. In fact, if you like writing and have the time for it, I would definitely urge you to do so.
However, there is a small problem here as I see it, and that is the enormous amounts of websites where you can submit your articles. Most of them have hundreds, or even thousands, of articles submitted to them and it will be very difficult for your article to be noticed among them. It may even seem like a waste of time. But there are options, in fact there are loads of them, and I am of course talking about blogs and other community like websites.
Now, don’t submit your articles to just any blog or community. An article about for example social media is not likely to be published on a website about model trains. For your article about social media to be published, you should submit your article to blogs and websites within the niche of your choice. If for instance an article about any social media related topic (or any of the categories you’ll find on my blog) were to be submitted to me, it would very likely get to be published on my blog. If an article about fashion was submitted, I would turn it down.
I won’t tell you it’s easy, but when you find a blog or website within the same niche as your article, you should definitely go for it. The worst thing that can happen is that you get turned down.
